Within VideoSyncPro Studio, there are different types of sources, depending on the type of device, and two major recording techniques or methods:
Axis Sources - Default, AMC*-based and most resource efficient recording method of all Axis network devices. The resulting videos are H.264 compressed *.wmv files. The requirements for the computer and especially the graphics board are much lower. |
▪Read Add Axis Sources to manually add an Axis network device using this recording method.
*) Axis Media Control software component
Streaming Sources - Most flexibel, but more resource hungry, method to record all kind of network and local Windows devices. The resulting videos are H.264 compressed *.mp4 files. This method requires a Professional Nvidia Graphics board with Unrestricted concurrent sessions, like the P2000 or the RTX A2000 or up. |
▪Read Add Video-Stream Source or Add Audio-Stream Source to ad network sources as a streaming source.
▪Read Add Windows A/V Source to add a windows A/V device like a Webcam (wich includes both video and audio).
Note: We recommend, if possible, to use the same recording method for all sources, to get consistent file types.
You CANNOT mix audio and video sources of the different methods within the same source.
The Studio Recording Mode requires streaming sources.
TIP: | Nvidia offers a Matrix with details on all boards and their specifications. Make sure you switch to the Professional tab. |
If you convert the original Axis sources to the streaming method, make sure your computer can handle the workload:
▪Create a scenario that holds the required number of streaming sources. ▪Open the Windows Task Manager. ▪Switch to the Performance or Resources tab. ▪Start a recording session in VSP. ▪Watch the workload on all resources. When the usage of all components stays well below 80% usage over at least 30 Minutes, the system seems to be powerful enough. |
IMPORTANT: If you work in a mixed environment and the recorded videos need to be macOS compatible, recording the videos using the MP4 resulting Streaming Source method is a must.
