H.264 Implementations

IMPORTANT: This multimedia format is supported by the INTERACT Player natively, so select the INTERACT Player for instant playback.
The following instructions and configuration details are only applicable if you decide to activate the Windows Player instead!

The standard for Blu-ray discs is H.264-based.

This highly compressed HD video format requires more CPU power than regular videos and might therefore play jerky on older systems. What video codec performs best if it comes to frame accurate controlling differs for manufacturer to manufacturer.

Again, this compression routines comes in many shapes and sizes. Some of those implementation are already covered in special topics:

oh.264 compressed WMV files in WMV Files

oAVCHD and other HD camera videos in AVCHD & 2MTS videos

ox264vfw files, like our VideoConverterPro is able to produce them in X264vfw based videos

For some videos there is are multiple solutions available, these are the possible alternatives:

oWindows H264 Video Codec - make an accuracy test to make sure all is really well!

offdshow Video Decoder (as in X264vfw based videos)

oDivX Plus codec pack (like for AVCHD & 2MTS videos)

oCoreAVC (as for AVCHD & 2MTS videos)

The best and most flexible codec is the commercial CoreAVC codec though! This has handled any H.264 video we have seen so far.

If you have trouble with their website, contact licensing@corecodec.com directly.

Other H264 Implementations

Because there are so many different H.264 implementations available you might run into yet another implementation and will need to test which of the described solutions is best for you.

We cannot guarantee that other implementations work as good as the x264vfw, though.
