Qualitative data analysis methods, like the Grounded Theory method, are usually based on text. Collecting information from video material is much more complicated, because the source of information is constantly moving and content must be linked to a time reference in the video.
Because these methods usually start by collecting constraints free information, data collection has nothing to do with the usual approach for video-based observations described in this documentation.
For users that do not (yet) have a defined coding system and want to collect their information explorativ, INTERACT still has a lot to offer:
oCollect time related information WITHOUT any predefined Codes.
oRe-use expressions that you entered from an automatic drop-down list per Class-column.
oBuild a Coding System that can be used by other coders based on the explorative data you collected.
Because of these features and the ability to combine explorative data collection with Event-Sampling and Time-Sampling data, the range of possible applications becomes even vaster.
As usual, there are multiple ways to use INTERACT for this type of data collection. The method described in this section is a straight forward example to make your 'coding life' as easy as possible. Additional tweaks are possible, so do not hesitate to ask for further assistance if things do not run as smooth as expected.
