Duplicating a Class column can be useful to aggregate different Codes. It allows you to create a copy of the coded data and rename different Codes to a single new Code.
Example: Supposed you have coded three different types of smiles, like 'smile', 'sneer', 'grin' but now want to generate a statistical overview in which all three Codes are joined into one Code called 'smile'. Duplicating the original Codes enables you to rename those Codes with the Edit - Replace command without loosing the original information.
To duplicate a Class a Class, including its contents:
▪Right-click on the Class column header in your data file.
▪Choose Duplicate Class from the shortcut menu.
TIP: | When it is just for statistical results, also take a look at the possibility of joining those Codes virtually, with the help of the Code Archive. |
