If, on logging Events, you get following error message: "You are trying to log an Event but you have pressed an undefined key. Check your code definitions", one of the following issues apply:
Wrong code definition file -The current code definition file does not contain a Code, assigned to the [key] just pressed, or the file does not suit the current coding mode (see next issue). |
▪Click Start - Observation - Define Codes to open the Code definitions window and open the correct code file.
Wrong Coding Mode - The currently selected coding mode does not fit to the currently selected code definitions file. |
▪Make sure this is the mode you want to use before looking any further.
▪Read Select a Coding Mode for further details.
If you do want to use the 'Complex' coding mode, there is something wrong with the Code definition file currently opened in the Code definition dialog.
•You have loaded the wrong Code definition file, the moment you switched into the Observation mode, or there is an option missing:
▪Click Start - Observation - Define Codes , to open the Code definitions window and open the correct code file.
▪Make sure the option This file defines the Master-objects is selected.
▪Read Complex logging mode for further details about this coding mode.
Wrong window focus - If you are trying to enter some transcription information while in the Observation Mode, you need to select the transcript area in order to do so. Beware: You need to switch back the focus to either the Observation Ribbon or the Multimedia Window in order to continue coding. |
