During the initial configuration of your Mangold Video Lab, our technicians usually handle the hardware setup described in this chapter.
In case you want to get started with the installation in advance, need to relocate your lab, or need to change the network IP number ranges of your cameras, here is an overview of the necessary steps:
Hardware
Below a description of the general setup of a Mangold Video Lab. A separate document describing your specific lab setup in detail is part of the order procedure.
oPer default, a Mangold VideoSyncPro Studio recording station contains 2 network cards.
–The onboard network connector is used to connect the computer with the network switch that came with the Mangold package. This way, we build a separate camera network to prevent the network traffic in your LAN from interfering with your recordings. Further information is available in Identify Camera Network
–The second network connector (Wifi or network adapter) in the computer can be used to connect the computer to the LAN of your institution.
oBoth, the IP cameras that came with the Mangold package as well as the recording PC, must be connected to the Mangold network switch. For details, read Connect IP Cameras.
oSo you can access the cameras individually via the network, each camera requires a unique IP number. Number ranges for pre-configured cameras start at 192.168.0.11.
–All unconfigured Axis IP cameras are set to DHCP.
Because your local DHCP server cannot be accessed, due to the two-network-card solution, each camera gets the same IP address (192.168.0.90), by factory settings.
oEach AXIS IP camera requires a password; the very first time you access a camera through the network, a dialog will pop-up, requesting you to enter a password. How to correctly do that is described in Camera Setup.
IMPORTANT: Set the default camera user to 'root' with password 'Mangold'.
You can create other users, but without this user/password combination many VideoSyncPro IP functionalities fail.
Network Cameras
Each camera is connected with a LAN cable to the network switch, thus building a separate, stand-alone network with the recording station.
▪Read Camera Setup for details on the initial configuration of the IP cameras.
Software
oAn installation wizard handles the installation of Mangold VideoSyncPro Studio.
oYou need local administrator rights during the installation, to ensure proper installation of all required codecs and registry entries.
oAfter installation of VideoSyncPro Studio, additional required installers are executed automatically:
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable
- Axis Media Control Software
- Axis Media Control SDK
- Axis H264 Video Decoder
- Axis AAC Audio Decoder
On startup
To start Mangold VideoSyncPro Studio, you need either the CodeMeter USB license key or the serial number you received as part of your purchase - depending on the license type you acquired.
Make sure the hardware is correctly connected and configured before you launch Mangold VideoSyncPro Studio. Otherwise, the cameras cannot be found.
