Auto-Fill Data

This function, enables you to automatically enter multiple, predefined Codes (that are identical for each Event) during an observational session.

Note: Usually, this information can also be stored in Independent Variables, but there are also two great applications of this functionality described in this section further down.

E.g. if you are logging behavior and you want to add some -more or less static- influences (like ‘back ground music', 'father in room' or maybe information like 'gender', 'Age' and 'Name') to each single Event, this can be done automatically with the help of the Auto fill data routine.

What happens during a coding session?

As soon as the 'Auto Fill' function has been activated, INTERACT automatically enters the predefined data into the Classes of your choice, for every Event you log or fill with a Code.

To activate or deactivate this this functionality, click Insert - Autofill - Edit Codes Btn_AutoFillData_Load.

Clear or select the option Active during data logging.

Read Define 'Auto fill' data for further details.

IMPORTANT: Data entered with the Auto-fill routine, is always entered first and is overwritten by manually logged Codes.

Add Creation Date and Time

It is possible to define a special kind of auto fill data, that enters the current system date and time into each Event that is logged:

Use the + icon to create a line.

Click into the Code column of the line that shall hold the time information.

Click the Insert Date/Time button:

AutoFillData_EnterCreationTime

Select the time format you want to collect.

You may pick multiple types, to split your information over multiple columns. Once clicked, the following entires appear:

AutoFillData_TimeStampSyntax

Note: We strongly recommend to use brackets around the (Class names) for this kind of information. Brackets turn a Class into a comment class, excluding its contents from the statistics.

Click OK to confirm your settings.

From now on, for every Code logged (into a new Event or while refining existing Events) a time stamp reflecting the current system date and time is entered into this column.

TIP:Enter a '?' in-front of the Class name to make it an Invisible Class. This hides the content of those Classes within the data file.
