Preferred Codecs

Based on the information in the table with Supported Multimedia Formats, all tested video file types are linked to their required video codec in the program settings. This list can be edited manually in case you need other settings.

The file extension (indicating the container format) is followed by a colon and than the exact name of the video codec (as it is provided by the WMP engine). The information FGON, behind the codec name, means that the option Enable frame manipulation functions neds to be activated for this video type. Behid the // some additional information is added.

The default setup is:

mpg : MPEG Video Decoder ;FGON;NOFFD //MPEG 1

VOB : MPEG Video Decoder ;FGON;NOFFD //MPEG 1

//mpg : ffdshow Video Decoder (RGB) ;FGON //MPEG 1

MPG : Elecard MPEG-2 Video Decoder HD ;FGON //MPEG2

IMPORTANT: Those settings do not save you from setting up your system correctly, for the required video codec! It only allows us to warn you, that something is wrong, by displaying a Btn_Control_CodecError at the bottom of the multimedia window. What setup is required for which format, is explained in the section Supported video Formats.

Read Video Codec Setup for further details.
