<< Click to Display Table of Contents >> Navigation: Observation Methods > Observation Settings > Multimedia control during data logging > Start Multimedia file when Logging a New Event |
This option simplifies the process of coding a video sequentially, because you do not need to start the video separately: The moment you start a new Code, the video automatically starts playing.
Designed for the Coding mode: Lexical (post-hoc), to easily create sequential Events with just the SPACEBAR.
Further directions and hints about consistent and sequential coding can be found under Coding consistently.
This option is NOT available in the Multiple-objects logging method.
Setting this option
As most individual coding options, you find this option in the Observation settings dialog:
▪To open this dialog, click Start - Observation - Observation settings .
The following dialog appears:
▪Select the option Start multimedia files when logging an Event.
▪To ensure that the next Event starts sequentially, select Start new Event with next video image as well.
▪Click OK to confirm your settings.
As soon as this option is set, INTERACT automatically starts the video as soon as either the SPACEBAR or any other shortcut [key] (for a behavior with duration) is pressed.
Clicking Codes in the Coding panel works just as well!
NOTE: The option SPACEBAR is treated as a Code with duration needs to be selected in the current Code definition, if you use the SPACEBAR to log your Events.
