IMPORTANT: This checker only works correctly for mutually exclusive Codes and is only available in Coding Mode 'Standard (ad hoc)'.
The check double codings routine prevents the logging of subsequent double Codes and easily allows you to correct coding errors on the fly, without having to abandon the coding process.
Activate Verification
▪Click Start - Observation - Observation settings .
▪Make sure the coding mode Standard (ad-hoc) is active.
▪Select Warn if consecutive codes are the same, under Checks during data logging.
▪Select Continue automatically after redefinition, if that is what you want.
▪Maybe check the option Play sound on invalid key stroke to arouse attention.
▪Click OK to confirm your settings.
ATTENTION: The verification of consecutive Codes only works correctly for mutually exclusive Codes and is only available in the coding mode Standard!
Error detected
Whenever you press the same [key] twice in a row, INTERACT now produces a beep sound and the video pauses (if you did select both the options Warn if consecutive codes are the same and Play sound on invalid key stroke). Immediately a warning dialog appears:
You have two possible ways to continue:
Correct the last Code |
▪Press the [key] of the correct Code (Coding panel temporarily disabled).
A new Event is created, with the corrected Code. You are able to continue as before.
Abort coding rhythm |
▪Press ECS to return to the Coding panel.
No new Event is created. The last Event is still left open and you are able to continue as before.
▪Continue as usual.
