INTERACT enables you to link various external files to your INTERACT data. This can help you to keep track or source material and collected data, all within the same file.
You can link:
oMultimedia-based source material (Videos, Audio files) per DataSet.
oSensor- data, in DataView format, to the corresponding DataSet.
oPictures to any of the available lines, as informative background information.
oPlain text files, to Events, DataSets and Groups, as informative background information.
oAdditional video or audio material to Events, DataSets and Groups, as informative background information.
oAny other type of file that can be opened by an installed application for documentary purpose.
Note: You can open linked documentary files through the Context menu, using the command Open linked files.
All links are entered into the Transcript field of the corresponding element. The way those links are handled depends on the key-words used.
Note: Every line in a data file (DataGroups, DataSets and Events) has its own transcript field at the bottom of the INTERACT window.
Source material
Your observational audio/video material is referred to as 'source material'.
References start with the keyword "Video:".
oSource material for analysis can only be linked to DataSets and DataGroups.
oEach DataSet or DataGroup can be linked to one or more video files.
oAny corresponding offset time information is saved in the corresponding video-link.
▪Read Link Multimedia files for Observation for further details.
Note: Linked source Material is opened automatically when double-clicking a time value inside the corresponding DataSet.
Sensor Data
If you have any kind of sensor data, like bio-physiological data, GPS data, surrounding noise levels or any other kind of measured sensor data, you can visualize this data in sync
For this, you need the add-on module called DataView. You can import all kinds of text based data files into DataView and, based on the synchronization criteria you enter during import, both sources can be played in sync.
▪Click Additional - Sensor Data - DataView , to start DataView.
▪Read the DataView Help for further information about importing your sensor data.
▪Read Link Sensor data for details on how link DataView files to your observational data.
oReferences start with the keyword "DataView:".
Additional Informative Material
If you have pictures, additional video sequences or even text files that contain additional information to any of the lines in your document, they can be linked to that exact item.
References start with the keyword "File:" or "View:".
▪Read Attach files as comments for further details.
Note: File references starting with File: are attempted to open in INTERACT. If that does not work, they are opened in their corresponding application, as they would when double-clicking the file in the Windows Explorer.
File references starting with View: are opened in their external application.
