Move DataSets Virtually in Time

This functionality, enables you to visually compare behavioral data, by virtually synchronizing different time periods. It simplifies the procedure of comparing their statistics!

The idea is, to move the logged behavioral information virtually in time, either to get matching start times or to synchronize all sessions to a specific Code. Even concatenating sessions is possible.

Goal of the routines is, to enable the exact comparison of behavior in relation to time.

How it's done

INTERACT uses a specific comment line to take care of the virtual shift of your data. The original time information is not touched. The required DataSetOffset command line, is always entered into the Transcription field of the corresponding DataSet!

Different methods for virtually moving your DataSets are listed below:

Arrow-Right-OrangeSynchronize an a specific Code - If you need to compare all behavior, occurring after a certain Code was coded (e.g. a specific command was given, or the appearance of a certain objects was coded):

Continue with Synchronize on Code.

Arrow-Right-OrangeMove all DataSets to zero - To synchronize the start point of all DataSets to 00:00:00:00 (e.g. because multiple sessions are recorded within the same video file):

Continue with Shift to zero.

Arrow-Right-OrangeConcatenate DataSets - To virtually position all DataSets in a chronological order, based on the order of Sets in your INTERACT Document:

Read Concatenate DataSets.

Arrow-Right-OrangeManually define a DataSet offset - If none of the above applies, or if you want to make changes to adapt the default entries:

Read Manually Define a DataSet Offset.

Remove Offset information

To return to the original figures and views:

Either Remove Virtual Time Shifts

or

Temporarily disable their functionality, by disabling the option Use time code offsets within the Application Settings.

TIP:If you've logged your data in different Documents, but want to display the results in one diagram, use one of the Start - Files - Merge Btn_MergeDocuments > commands to create one big compilation file (read Merge data for details).
Or use copy & paste to easily transfer a DataSet from one data file into another.

All methods rely on the same DataSetOffset command, which is build up like this:

DataSetOffset100Ns: current time value in 100 nanoseconds > new time value in 100 nanoseconds

Note: This command does not influence the original data, nor its time information, so the times still match the video.
