Create an audio file

Most video editing software, offers a function to save the audio track of a video into a separate file.

If you use VideoSyncPro Studio for your recordings, use the build-in 'Audio-extraction' routine available in the context menu on the main recordings list.

TIP:If you do NOT use VideoSyncPro Studio and you don't have a video editing software available, search for and download "VirtualDub" (an excellent Open Source Program) to extract audio from AVI files.

It is impossible to explain how to extract the audio track of a video for every editing software available on the market, so we restrict our instructions to the two programs already mentioned. The principle is the same in most of them, though.

VirtualDub

The fastest and easiest way to extract your audio from avi files, offers this software:

Start VirtualDub.

Open the video of your choice

Choose File - Save WAV from  the menu.

Name the new audio file.

Confirm by clicking Save.

That's it!

Now you have two files: A video (incl. audio) and an additional audio file. Naming both files identically -except for the suffix (e.g *.avi and *.wav)- makes it easier to remember what belongs together.

*)  For example the MovieBox from Pinnacle, which is an external piece of equipment placed between video camera and computer.
