To ensure that you are installing the most recent version for your license, we make use of the Mangold SoftwareManager.
For this, an internet connection is required:
▪Start the SoftwareManager, downloaded from the internet.
Depending on your license type:
▪Click I have a Mangold License Code and enter your code.
▪Click I have a Mangold USB License Key and wait for the background check.
If the license information is correct, the local version of your software is checked. In case a newer version is available, our Software Manager offers you the possibility to download that version:
oClick Download selected Products to start the download.
oAfter download, make sure the required software is selected before you click Install selected products to start the actual installation of the software.
The individual installer, for the selected software, guides you through the installation process.
Pay attention to the installation location!
| TIP: | To copy the installer to a location that is accessible without our Software Manager, click Open download folder and copy the installer files from there. |
Note: Our SoftwareManager requires a stable internet connection and automatically checks the license information AND updates this information if applicable. After that, it scans our license server for available updates and prompts you to download and install those.
Which updates are available for free, depends on your the expiration date of your service period.
License Types
Your license type determines how you can install INTERACT.
INTERACT is available in the following license models:
 | Single User License Key - Per default, we offer a dongle-based single user license using CodeMeter USB dongles. This 'dongle' is your license key and holds all information about the purchased licenses. It offers a flash drive section that can be used like any other USB stick and an invisible, programmable level that holds the license information. This portable license allows you to install INTERACT on the stick itself and run it from there. You may also install our software locally on multiple systems, but you can only run the software if the license key is inserted. This license type works for both Windows and macOS, IF the dongle has a serial number starting with 2-...... or 3-...... Contact us if your 2- Stick is not recognized on macOS at support@mangold-international.com This license does not require internet access during regular use, only for updates. |
| Computer-based License Code - In addition to the portable license keys, which can be used on different systems, we also offer a computer-based license in form of a 16 character license-Code. This license is automatically verified with the information on our license server and requires an internet connection regularly. This license type is locked to a single computer. INTERACT needs to be installed locally on your PC. |
| Network license USB-dongle - To share one or multiple licenses among users, a network license is required. This license type allows you to share license information over the local network, remote desktop or using a virtual machine. You need to physically plug the license key into a computer that is available from within the environment that is running INTERACT. This computer (Linus/MacOS/Windows) serves as a license server that provides access to any of the purchased licenses. Being a 'License Server' is NOT a big task and can thus be performed by any other server that is already running. INTERACT is installed in the environment the user is working with. |

IMPORTANT: This license key/USB stick ('dongle') IS the actual INTERACT license, so do NOT loose it!
Install INTERACT on your PC
If you have a License Code, or always use the same PC for working with INTERACT, or if your company policy requires so, install INTERACT on the hard disk of the PC, like any regular PC application.
When installed locally, INTERACT requires a special location for its user data:
oThe Mangold INTERACT Data folder - which contains several common files and all extensions - is, per default, located in the standard Shared Documents folder of the local Windows installation.
oIf there is no Shared Documents folder on your system, the INTERACT user data folder is created inside the current user's Documents folder. This is problematic on systems with different user accounts.
oThe path to this user data folder can be changed after installation, as explained in Paths, but that setting is also user specific!
Installation process
▪Start the actual installation of INTERACT.
▪Follow the directions of the installer wizard, which guides you through the installation process.
▪On the fourth installer page called Target Media, select the default installation type On the computer's hard disc.
▪If you prefer another location as the default Programs folder, change the installation path.
▪Proceed with the installer to finish the installation.
IMPORTANT: At the end of the installation process a Command prompt window appears.
Do NOT close this dialog manually!
The Python components being installed are required for various analysis routines.
Python will be installed in a separate folder 'Mangold Python'.
The process might take several minutes.
The window closes automatically when all components are installed.

Install INTERACT on your License Key
If you own a License Key (dongle) and want to take your INTERACT with you, you can install INTERACT on the flash drive of the USB license key and run the application directly from stick:
▪On the fourth installer page called Target Media, select the installation type: On the special Mangold license key.
▪Select the drive letter of your USB license key in the upcoming dialog.
Note: Whenever INTERACT is launched directly from stick, it expects the Mangold INTERACT Data folder - which contains several common files and all extensions - to be located on the root level of the USB flash drive.
